"I am a digital artist who particularly loves anything with a fanart, sci-fi, or fantasy twist. When commenting, I definitely look to strengths first and weaknesses second, but I always try to leave critiques that offer specific ways to improve rather than just generic terms. Commenting is the gateway to friendship, for me, so I'm always looking to build up another artist to be the best they can!"

"I am a hobbyist artist specializing in digital landscape art, and dabble in anthro as well. "I am an amateur, self taught artist. I mainly draw fanart and Anime style, but my forte seems to be Disney related things. I have been drawing for over 10 years, but started to be serious about drawing about 4 years ago. I may not know everything, but I try the best that I can to help out each person that I can in a positive way--just like I did (and still am). In a way, it is like paying it forward. "

Is there a way I can apply to be a comment coach? I think I know the rules of commenting on a picture good enough to be a coach.

Right now, Comment Coaches are admins of the group. We could open up the floor to everyone, but not many people contact our Comment Coaches as it is, so it doesn't really make sense to do that. :hmm:

Do we have a list for critiques arts/drawing. It is what I usually do, browses through my notification and if I happen to stumble upon an art/drawing with the artist asking to critique it, I would and give my opinion once I've looked over the art/drawing.

Every submission we accept into our Gallery is one of those.

So do we have someone on the look out for those? Or do we simply browse through our notification, of the latter, then, how do we add it to our Gallery?

I am not sure I fully understand your question?

I accept deviations into our gallery. Everyone who submits there wants a comment. You can watch the group's deviations (to get the gallery submissions into your message center).

I see. What I meant was other artist's art/drawing that has a "Critique" sign on it, will it be added to our gallery or do we add it, the art/drawing, to the gallery. But anyways it just a question of a curious new member.

Adding the 'Critique' sign to a piece is a Core Membership feature. As you don't have Core, you won't be able to add it to your own piece (this feature is added during the submission process).

If you submit your art to the gallery, you should receive something like a critique because that is what a constructive comment essentially is.

I have two questions: when it says "5:30 onwards" when does "onwards" end? And what does it mean if it simply says "Eastern Time?"

5:30pm onwards until an acceptable time, which would be around 10:00pm.

Eastern Time in terms of the US, which is three hours ahead of Pacific Time. For Eastern Time, we would operate under 'normal' hours, so 9:00am EST (or 6am PST) until 10:00pm EST (or 7pm PST). If it says Eastern Time, then that person will most likely be around throughout the day, Eastern Time.

Let me know if that answered your questions?

but if we just send a link to a comment, what good is it? They don't know what the deviation looks like if we just link a comment---I could think up a storm, but if it looks perfect to me I'm out of ideas---shouldn't we send a link to the deviation AND the comment... or just the deviation?

We don't necessarily need the deviation as a reference to improve the constructive nature of a comment. I would think that if one wanted to improve the constructive nature of a comment, we would look to the comment itself, and analyze what is said and what isn't said. For example, you don't need to look at the deviation to know that the person didn't explain why they liked what they liked.

As DTKinetic said, if you link the comment, you can follow the link to the deviation the comment was posted on as well.

We would rather everyone focused on their comments for this project, but there is no harm for the commenter or the coach to link/reference the art as well if they deem it necessary.

If it looks perfect to you, but your piece was not accepted into the gallery because of the comment, then that is when a coach comes in to offer suggestions to improve your comment.
